Stay Scam Protected
Medicare announced that 1.2 million beneficiaries were affected by a data breach and will receive new Medicare Cards in the mail. If you receive a new card, please check the information below. Remember, Medicare will not call you; they only communicate by Mail.
Key Information to Protect Yourself:
No Cost: The new card is free, and no one will call to ask for payment, Federal Trade Commission (FTC) warns.
No Information Needed: If a caller asks for your Social Security number, bank information, or a "fee" to receive your card, it is a scam.
Action Needed: If you receive a new, paper card, shred your old one to protect your information.
Verification: You can verify your card status by logging into your MyMedicare.gov account
